Tricolour Museum / Palazzo Casotti

2004-2006 / Reggio Emilia
Tricolour Museum / Palazzo Casotti

The Tricolour Museum in Palazzo Casotti is situated in the rooms adjacent to the Town Hall, where on 7 January 1797 the representatives of the cities of Reggio Emilia, Modena, Bologna and Ferrara proclaimed the white, red and green tricolour banner of the Repubblica Cispadana. The itinerary runs along two parallel lines: the history of the national flag, from its origins to conquest of independence and the unification of the country; and an account of the political vicissitudes of Reggio Emilia, from the birth of the Repubblica Cispadana in 1796 to testimonies to the contribution made by the people of Reggio to the Risorgimento battles.
