Starting from an ampler study for the general reuse of the museum spaces of the Fortress of the Gonzagas, the project only concerned some rooms on the first floor. A first section contains Roman finds and some Romanesque-Byzantine frescos, while in the subsequent rooms there is a reconstruction and some frescos on the wall, previously detached from it, referring to the Casino di Sopra, the hunting lodge the Gonzagas loved in the Novellara countryside. Inserted in panels that partially line the rooms there are displayed big “Allegories” and other figures that were part of the complex decoration painted by Lelio Orsi.
